Looking After Your Chairs

Whether it is a statement armchair or a set of handcrafted dining chairs, proper maintenance ensures comfort and stability. Explore our specialist advice for preserving the beauty and function of your seating.

Quality in every seat

Our chairs are engineered for both form and function. From the joinery of the frame to the weave of the fabric, every detail is crafted to last. Following these simple steps will ensure your chairs remain a supportive and stylish part of your home for years to come.

Built for longevity

Sustainability is at the core of The Crafted Home. By maintaining the structural integrity and surface finish of your chairs, you ensure that high-quality craftsmanship stays in your home and out of the landfill.

Structural Care

To keep your chairs stable, avoid leaning back on two legs, as this places extreme pressure on the joints and can lead to structural failure.

Periodically check and tighten any fixings. Wood is a living material that can expand and contract with temperature changes; ensuring bolts and screws are secure will prevent wobbling and extend the life of the frame.

Upholstery Care

Dining chairs are often subject to spills. Blot liquid spills immediately with a clean, white lint-free cloth—never rub. For crumbs and dust, vacuum the seat and crevices fortnightly using a soft brush attachment.

For accent chairs, rotate the cushions if they are removable to ensure even wear and help the fabric retain its original tension and appearance.

Surface Care

For wooden frames, dust regularly with a soft cloth. If the chair is placed near a window, be aware that UV light can change the timber's colour over time.

For metal legs or frames, wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately to prevent water spots or oxidation. Avoid abrasive scourers that can scratch the powder-coated or polished finish.

Floor Protection

To protect both your chair and your flooring, we recommend using felt pads on the base of the legs, especially on hard surfaces like wood or tile.

Inspect these pads regularly for wear and replace them as needed to prevent grit from being trapped and scratching your floors.

Every chair at The Crafted Home is subject to rigorous quality control. We believe in the pieces we sell and want them to be a part of your daily life for years to come.
